Our client, a credit union in Corpus Christi, is seeking a loan collector to handle past due loan accounts. On a daily basis, the collector will be responsible for contacting members with delinquent loan accounts to make collections on charge-off loans and charge-off saving/checking accounts. They will also be responsible for assisting members with account errors and bankrupt files when necessary. The loan collector will be responsible for assisting with repossessions, including inspecting collateral, receiving offers, responding to inquiries, and showing collateral upon request. Additionally, the loan collector will prepare paperwork and accounts for legal filings and judgments, when necessary. This will involve sending letters and correspondence, performing general office duties, and forwarding file documentation to attorneys, as needed. The loan collector will serve as backup for loan processors, the file room, and receptionist when necessary to ensure efficient operation..
To qualify for this position, applicants must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or up to three (3) years of collections experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants should have knowledge of all pertinent regulations affecting the position, along with Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), USA Patriot Act and Customer Identification Program (CIP). Candidates should have good computer and customer service skills, as well as a clear background and drug test.
